Painted Rocks

This was so much fun!
What we used-
*Foam Brush
*Matte Acrylic Paint, any color, any brand
We kept things simple and stuck with black and white.
*Sakura Gelly Roll Moonlight gel pens-
You can write on light or dark surfaces with these. You can find them on Amazon.
*Metallic Markers
I found cheap ones for a couple bucks at
wal-mart.
*Paper Mate gel pens
*Rust-Oleum Clear Matte Sealer-
This is one of my favorites to use. It goes on nice and smooth and it does not yellow over time like some of the others. We found these in the creek out back on a warm winter day. Nothing special. Smooth and flat was all we needed. Or you can go to any home improvement store and pick up a bag of river rock.
Using the foam brushes, we painted some black, some white. You only need to paint the top and around the edges a little. No need to paint the bottom. This dries quickly, then you're ready to doodle away! Or skip this step all together. While doing this we were all thinking things like-
“We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents.”
and,
“Let's get crazy.”
When the boys were little, The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross was on PBS every day during our lunch time. They loved watching him and it was really nice having a nice quiet lunch! Travis was Bob Ross for Halloween one year too. I have a picture somewhere. I'll add it when I find it, hilarious!
"Happy little trees."Once you finish creating your masterpieces, let them dry for a few minutes. Then spray them with a coat of the rust-oleum. This dries to the touch in 20 minutes. If you want, you can add a second coat for extra protection. Again, no need to do anything with the underside of the rock.
So place them in your garden, share them with friends or even start a treasure hunt game with your community.
